About
I love breaking things. Taking them apart, seeing how they work and putting them back together. Typically, that’s a motorcycle, bicycle or DIY home project, but it applies to design as well. I’m good at looking at the big picture, understanding how things work using decades of experience in Information Architecture, Visual, UI & UX Design to create cohesive and consistent design across platforms, design systems, design operations and siloed organizations.
As a designer with expertise in systems, I get similar inspiration from two very different places: nature & machines. The symbiotic processes of ecology teach simplicity and patience. The lessons I’ve learned from rebuilding motorcycles and bicycles have more to do with persistence, confidence and pain tolerance. But both provide me so much joy and beauty once I understand how the systems work.
Things that I love:
Contributing to a calm, stable atmosphere
Working with people who genuinely care about one another
Creating helpful systems and procedures
Supporting people when they face a challenge
Being complimented on a job well done
Helping people work together
Progressing steadily toward a goal
Working with people who sincerely listen to my concerns
Being around people who are empathetic and accepting
